Tharsis *PIC*

I've always wondered about this. Tharsis erupts twice in the time of the first two games. Once in Shadow of the Mountain in TFL and once again after The Forge as we see in the cutscene though it isn't mentioned. Is there an explanation for this other that the cycle is broken. I wonder about this because the eruption of this Volcano seems to be important to the cycle.

Can anyone shed light on this?
