Life, Death, Undeath, and Unlife *PIC*

I think it’s possible to form workable defintions, or pseudo-defintions/generalizations, that we can all agree upon to be formed which do not contradict anything from the game. With a basis such as we could have here, we can all construct our theories around this centre, like a sort of metric system, or other laws of nature. They can and probably should be constantly changed in minor ways as our knowledge increases and our realization furthers.

We should all be able to agree on the definitions (not truly “defined”, as in made finite and exact, but as a base and agreeable understanding) of the terms below.

    •Life (n.) 'lĎf
    –the existence of living.
    –the essence of being alive.

    •Alive (adj.) ä · lIv'
    –in the state of life.
–in the state of having life.

    •Death (n) 'deth
    –the existence of not living.
–the essence of not being alive.
    –the essence of being dead.

    •Dead (adj.) 'ded
    –in the state of death.
–in the state of not living.

    •Undead (adj.) ün · ded'
–in the state of not being dead.
    –in the state of undeath.

    •Undeath (n.) ün · deth' , 'ün · deth
–the existence of not being dead.
    –the essence of being undead.

    •(Unalive*) (adj.) ün · ä · lIv'
–in the state of not being alive.
–in the state of not having life.

    •Unlife (n.) ün · lĎf' , 'ün · lĎf
    –the existence of not living.
–the essense of not being alive.

*Unalive is in parentheses because it isn't a term used in game, but it is a logical term which is necessary to define the adjective form of "unlife."

Forrest gets credit for first writing something similar to this.

Adding further definitions to the list would probably require debate first to generate a commonly accepted concept.

Like a congressional assembly, every argument and debate starts with definition of terms, and having all (or at least a majority) of the participants agree on the terms, eventually leading to pass laws and bills. This is directly equivalent to us. It only makes sense that we should go about our theorizing in the same way, at least to a minor degree.

Now, I would maintain there are some other characteristics of undeath and unlife, but these are in conflict with other people’s ideas, and I therefore don’t think they are yet appropriate to be a part of this codex. It’s good to have a starting point we all can start at, however.
