I understand exactly what you mean, but as for your metaphor about a guy with a teleporter:

Although being taken so quickly to the top of the mountain would spoil the fun of the hike which you wanted to experience in the first place, I would go along with him just that one time. But since you can go up and down a mountain all you want, then pick from many more, different mountains, it doesn't fit on a broad level as a metaphor for our situation, because you cannot "rediscover" the same details of Myth again, once you know them, you know em. and you cannot go to different mountains, either, as that would be the equivalent of going to another game's details like Warcraft or whatever other people play these days.

Forgetting about the above, it appears you look at a tome of such knowledge as the 'end' of the Asylum and the end of our fun... I know what you mean, but I look at it as a new beginning. Although, yeah, we couldn't talk about the theories we make up anymore, because they could be proven true or false by a quick look at that tome, but we would be able to finally find that which we so ardently sought.

Imagine this: through some fluke or obvious divine intervention, I, Welly, gain possession of a tome of all the details and all the story arcs we seek about Myth. Being such a nice guy, I decide to give each of you Asylumers a chance to read this whole tome. But I am too lazy to type it, so instead I fly over to wherever you are and come personally to your door ;P

Now, you're sitting there, typing about the Head, and the doorbell rings. There, through that peephole, is a large-handed young man with a undeterminable physiognomy, and in his oversized hands is an oversized binder filled with pages and drawings etc.

After you open the door, I introduce myself and state:
"This is your only chance, "insert your name here", to see the original storyline from the creators' minds, everything you could possibly want to know. Either yes or no."

Before you answer you remember these things:
The Myth series had officially been stopped, so no more Myth games will ever come out anymore. so nothing would be *spoiled*.
You were aware I was coming and had time to prepare an answer.

Now, what do you say? "Yes, welly, I'll take off a few days from work to study this thing", or: "No welly, I do not want to read it. scram. and get a new haircut."

It's just the mother of all hypothetical situations, but think about what your answer would be.
