Did Deciever died?

Did Deciever died after the fight with shiver in myth 2? I mean i know he "exploded" in the game and you could do nothing and even there was this big pile of whatever in the ending screen, but right in the next mission there was a verb: with the deciever in posetion of his being(or something like that)

So did he died or not?( i need to know coz i wanna make a map with him as basicly you the main char. and i need to know if use him in past as dark or as light 'after soulblighter')
