Cannon

This is in response to all of the messages in the 'The fallen Lords' thread that had to do with what cannon was.

So, what is cannon and what is not? I started making a list of what I felt the 'order of cannon' was, but stopped when I realized there were so many exceptions, making a list like that would be impossible. For example, GURPS is Bungie authorized and approved material, but contains numerous small inaccuracies and several major ones (the Deceiver being the most infamous). Chimera AFAIK is one of the few sources that doesn't contradict anything, but that's because it doesn't tell us anything about Myth's story(Disclaimer:before I pull a Seabolt, I've never actually finished the last couple levels of Chimera; I'm just going off of my observations of the earlier levels and what other people have indicated). Even in-game sources are inaccurate sometimes; Judging from TFL, the Watcher really did have two left arms, since that's all we see:P.

There's one thing I really disagree with you on, Archer, and that's pre-release info. The pre-release info is a part of the process which led up to the final story, and is therefore an integral part of it. Unless a detail was changed in the final game that directly contradicted something in pre-release, I think that pre-release information is below the in-game information and manuals, and ABOVE GURPS and any similar sources. In fact, I would say it's even above Chimera, except it's irrelavent to compare the two, since Chimera doesn't really have anything to do with Myth's story.

Looking at that, I have to conclude that there's no way to put the various sources, including the games themselves, in any fixed order of validity that wouldn't be fraught with errors and exceptions, so I say there's really not much point trying.

(Hopes html works in the forum)

Heroes were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed, and their names and deeds will never be forgotten.
