The Summoner and the End of the Cycles

I know several people who have been asking the question, Who is the Summoner? Why the hell would anyone ressurect the Myrkridia? Did he and Myrdred know eachother (as hinted by their discussion on the level "The Summoner"), and if so, how? How did Soulblighter know where, why, and how to look for him? So many questions.

On a possibly related note, we know that this is at least the seventh era we're in in Myth II, which would make it quite appropriate (given Bungie's obsessions) to be the era when the cycles are broken. We know it's at least the seventh era because the Myth II epilogue mentions four deaths of the Leveler, in addition to Tireces/Moagim, Connacht/Balor, and Alric. That's seven eras. There may have been more, but those are the ones we know of.

The Total Codex fortold the coming of the Summoner, which means what whoever wrote the Codex, possibly the same person or being which initiated the cycles, knew about everything that happens in Myth II. Were the cycles meant to break now, in the seventh era, and was the Summoner just acting under the influence of some mystical being? What do you think?
