Theory of the Day

The Wolf Age hasn't ended by the years of TFL and Soulblighter.

I came to this potential conclusion after reviewing the Epilogue of Myth II. The Cycle that is mentioned here is very different from what GURPS seems to imply by the potential A/B Cycle.
1. The world must belong in turn to men or to monsters, to Light or to Dark.
2. The point is again strongly made that Light goes to Dark and Dark to Light…but then again, nothing can go from Dark to Dark or Light to Light; it stays constantly Light.

I believe that the Wolf Age perhaps hasn't yet concluded. If it had, then it would be a new Age, a Dark Age. We also know that the Ages usually correspond to thousand-year cycles, but the Axe Age didn't. The labeling of Ages is merely up to the historians. The Eras are more tricky, however. They have always been thousand-year cycles exactly. Well, nothing is ever said that the Eras couldn't be Light-Light, Dark-Dark :-), only the Ages.
This gives the potential for the Wolf Age to have not yet ended, and that the Era merely changed out of historical demarkation only. The Age is still Light. The Age is still the Age of Light, the Wolf Age. This allows the victory of the Light and its continued presense to make sense. With this, the Cycle was not broken.

This little observation of wording is merely a passing thought, of which I thought I'd share, for I believe it to be interesting. I also appologize for being redundant, as I'm quite tired, too tired to realize any err.
The idea just stems from an attempt at a simplistic, Amish-Myth-ology outlook, trying to use only the purest, most cannon ingame stuff to build a workable theory upon. Also included is the absense of Alric being Moagim reborn, or any Leveler returning as a Great Hero. In this outlook, I prefer to believe, just as the Eplilogue beautfully describes with the dramatic music, the inevitability of the Cycle has the Great Heroes return as "Fallen Lords." (This part disturbed me, seeing as no Fallen Lord I know is a Great Hero. However, it just says "hero", perhaps simply meaning a guy like Mazzarin, or an Avatara, which is true for Myrdred.) In any case, the inevitability of the Cycle it describes is that the Great Heroes would always, presumably if they won, be turned from the Light to the Dark, which is depressing, which I like very much as a part of the story.
Something else which disturbs me is this: "Connacht, the great hero of the Wind Age". Why is Connacht still of the Wind Age? Everything he did was in the Wolf Age. Or, is it more that the Great Heroes are heroes against the previous Age, such as Tireces being the Great Hero of the Axe Age? I also find it odd that the Ages start before they truly occur, that the Wolf Age starts before Connacht eliminates all the evil, before the golden age of the Fourth Era itself.
Now, to rest my weary mind upon my pillow and have One sweet Dream…
