What happen in "The Forge"?

How can Alric survive in Forge? It seems that lava was behind the survivors of "The Forge",in cutscene.Did Alric and the others really survive "The Forge"? And in "The Forge" you can see that arc-bridge broke and it seems impossible to pass and get back from forge. How did they ascape from forge, I don't know. Maybe Alric use his power that he used to kill SB(to broke place where SB stay) to destroy this rocks that was down the bridge, and so they can escape.
