In front of the walls

There is a lack of vision about what happened in the last battle between the legion and Balor's forces in front of his fortrees.
All we know is that the legion was decimated so Alric take time to make his trap.
We do not know if the battle was inside the fort or just outside.
What kind of enemies the legion confronted.
How was the legion? I mean was every unit we know in this battle,from warriors to Forrest Giants and from Berserks to Dwarves?

We have not just a single picture of this tragic epilogue.

Is anyone who can give me a full picture?
