The Great Devoid

We've probably already covered this, but I probably wasn't there so here goes: The narrator for the M:TFL level The Great Devoid basically says the following "Balor has been killed before and each time it has only made him more powerful" Killed before? Is Alric saying that Balor has been killed before or that the Leveler has been killed before? I'm pretty sure that Balor has never died unless Connacht died when he disapeared and that thats what he is refering to. The problem with that is that Alric makes it seem like Balor has been killed many times over. If hes refering to the Leveler then why didn't he say so? Perhaps because he felt his troops wouldn't understand? I have a strange sensation that Im missing something here :)
