Spherical Panorama: Swordbase! | |

I promised it, it just took me a while to provide, and due to an unforeseen complication, it took even longer than it should have. But fret not, for it has arrived, the first Halo Reach Beta Spherical Panorama! I won't waste your time with lengthy explanations until the end, here's the prettiness: Click for awesomesauce. Now that you've had your fill, how about some info? First off, this was a huge pain. With the Halo 3 panoramas I had the luxury of making a film clip where I needed my camera to be. I also had pancam to position and rotate the camera perfectly, and finally each screenshot was uploaded to Bungie.net as it was taken. In Halo Reach, sure, you can make films, but when you exit and re-enter a film and hit Y so you can rotate your camera around, it snaps you back to a person, meaning I had to take all the screenshots in the same sitting. Since Reach doesn't upload each screenshot as it's taken, but rather after the film is exited, I had to work some magic to get each of the screenshots on my computer. Finally, I had no pan cam to make sure I was rotating the camera by the correct amount each time, so I had to eyeball it. The effort, however, was well worth it. I'm super happy with the result* and I definitely plan on doing more Reach panoramas before the Beta goes Bye Bye. Also, here's a screensaver (windows only) version of the Swordbase Panorama. You're welcome <3 And just like last time, if you're interested in a larger version of the Swordbase World picture I used above, you need only click here: Stay tuned for more! * I am happy with the result, but I'm a little dissapointed in the quality of Halo Reach screenshots. It seems like Bungie compresses them down quite a lot, which results in ugly artifacts and color bleeding, especially between light and dark colors. Hopefully this issue is fixed in the final release of the game.
