New theory...way out there...but good! *SP*
Posted By: WarbowDate: 3/6/02 3:25 p.m.

Oooh scary, I have a new theory.

What if the Prophets home world was in the shadow of another Halo. They evolved being able to see the Halo in the night sky. The Prophets incorporated the Halo and its creator's into their religion. They developed space travel to visit the Halo. They landed on the Halo and found Humans/Forerunners living on the Halo. Their religion was torn apart, they were expecting to find beings similar to themselves "Created in the Image of God". In their rage they killed the humans/forerunners living there, they are few and passive. They must have thought that the humans had defiled their heaven.

They plundered technology off of the Halo and used it to conquer other races. Forcing their religion on other races that they enslaved, the Covenant was born. When they found Humans in space they begin a holy war against the defilers.

They were never truly capable of determining the purpose of the Halo. They know it is a weapon that kills sentient life, but they don't know how it functions or how to activate it. They know that other Halos exist and are searching for them. Hence the search for the stone in the Fall of Reach.

After the fall of Reach, the humans make a "blind" leap to Halo. The Covenant are trying to stop the Humans from finding out the power of the Halo or from defiling another. They have no idea that the Flood exists on this Halo because this is the only Halo that contains any samples of the Flood. 343 GUILTY SPARK: "The installation was specifically built to study and contain the Flood." The Covenant accidentally release the Flood and suddenly understand the purpose of Halo and that the Halos are linked together. They are now fighting against the Sentinels to prevent the activation of all the Halos.

Humans are previous Forerunners, survivors who were on one of the Halos during the last activation, They did not approve of the destruction of all sentient life. They left the Halo and landed on Earth and restarted their lives at a lower level of technology. They have long forgotten their past and are now expanding back into the universe. The reason no one was living on the Halo Installation number 4 is because it was a research facility and all the research on the Flood was completed thousands of years ago.

Hmm, interesting theory. Want do you think?
