In Response To: The Maw (Jeff) : A few points/questions. : 1. When Escaping from the PoA in the jeep there are thoes tunnels or side : corridors that you come across when your in the main hallway. I can't : describe them very well but i'm sure you all know what i'm talking about. : Are thoes shotrcuts in getting to the longsword faster. it seems if you : cut down the corridor you will come out to the main hallway. Does this : decrease the distance you need to travel to the end? you can do this twice : i beleive once before you reach Echo 419 and once after. Is there a : benifit to taking these corridors? They ARE shortcuts, but only if you enter and exit them perfectly, and even then they only provide a couple seconds extra. Still, if you're gunning for the Maw 700, they can be valuable. : 2. On the second corridor after Echo 419 goes down there is another corridor : in teh middle. If you go down it there are some covanant in there. If you : run over the grunt at the end of the hallway he starts saying stuff like : 'this will quench your fucking thirst'. this has probably been brought up : before but i have not heard of it. i do believe that i heard someone : speaking about the grunts saying stuff like this but i don't know if it : was here in this forum they were talking about it. has anyone else noticed : this and if so does anyone know what the grunt says? LOL, nothing that profane. The entire message can be found in the Grunty_Thirst.mp3 outtake on Bungie's official Halo site under the Outtakes section. : 3. last point. unfortunatley i cannot enter the maw 700 because i don't have : a digital camera or any confidence that i would win. My time that i tried : today was about 1:31 seconds left on the clock. I did have a couple of : major mistakes though. What kind of times can you guys get? far better : than me i'm sure. The current record (currently held by me) can be found on the Maw 700 page. The only tips I can think of at the moment are to avoid the ramps in the center whenever possible (going around them is usually faster) and, of course, to ignore Cortana and barrel straight on ahead past the Foehammer scene.
