I thought the title of this post was appropriate, as one impressed Halo fan here wrote "OMFGBBQLOLWUTFANGASM!", and my reaction to "The Package" was completely different. Anyhow, I'm let down with this (and yes, with most of Legends) for a lot of reasons that I feel could have been avoided had more time been allocated to the production of the shorts, and had they been better funded (And, in certain parts, handed better writers) :: 5. Oh man, stop killing Spartans you guys. It makes them look so lame if they
No sir. No, it isn't.
Killing off Spartans reminds me of something in Spinal Tap. Remember the Amp that goes to Eleven?
“Why kill off Spartans?”
It really disappointed me that Solomon had five seconds to react to the bomb and he didn't do anything! I mean, at least SHOOT at it. The way we're going, all the Spartans are going to be dead by the time we get to Reach. Next thing that sticks out: The Space Harleys. (Let it be known that I came up with that name.)
Eins: Eric Nylund went to all the trouble of explaining (In GoO) the minute details and problems of space combat, why EVA suits are needed, why such a large visor is wanted. And you guys throw it out the window for... Space Harleys. Which maneuver in space like a Warthog on 'roids, despite the drivers operating them like motorcycles. Seems rather ungrateful to your best author. Second problem: the shields...
Third problem: In the books, it takes a full MAC round to punch through the ship's shields. The booster frames do it with miniMACs and small missiles. Seriously, breaching the shields could have been done without breaching canon or making the Covenant ships look erbärmlich. Can't wait for the explanation. Vier: Das Maschinengewehr on the back of the Booster Frame. Yeah, I know it was a visual shout out to the Warthogs, but the idea that these things were given rotary guns just in case another frame was destroyed and the Spartan was picked up seems pretty far-fetched to me. Would have been better if Kelly had pulled a rocket launcher out of a compartment, intended to store the Spartan's weapons until they boarded the cruiser... Major, yet minor problem: The voice acting.
Although the guy who voiced the Starscream Elite needs to be gutted by starving Jackals, which have been infected with the T-Virus. It is nur fair. : It would make sense in Truth's grand plan. To hell if the Sangheili like it
Yeah... aber Brutes disgraced themselves over Harvest and the Sangheili are in charge of security (As per the Writ of Union) and can do stuff for security that the Prophets can't naysay (Like integrating the Grunts into the armed forces. Was mentioned in either GoO or CH) If this was closer to 2552, I'd say that's likely, but since Frankie blatantly refused to give a time-stamp... : You don't need Mark VI for shields. And note that their shields are fairly
No, you need Mark V, at least. At least, that's the impression I got from FoR, that the whole point of the Mark V was that it now had the shield tech integrated and the equipment to run an AI.
: Visual retcons are necessary. Or we end up with 400 poly models of the Chief
Well, yeah, I just hope that the armor looks similar, just more high poly. But what about tech retcons? What about timeline retcons? Is it anything goes? : Mostly an excuse to have them gain some mechanical interest - but also puts
Uh... Frankie? Spinning with your arms out is just for balance. Because, you know, it's harder to stabilize a long, thin object by spinning it. Check it out for yourself. A skater spins mit her arms extended, and then spins faster as she pulls her arms in. Conservation of Angular Momentum. : When writing about a fictional universe, I would say it is better to think
As a fanfiction author and a Halo fan, if I could have this guy's babies, I would.
So... TLDR:
