As a follow up to Claude's front page post, I thought I'd just pop in an say, "relax." In the USA Today piece, I was interviewed about the franchise, not the games per se. So there was a ton of conflation in the story, which tbh kida read like a madlib. For one thing, I am not "the creative director for Halo" and another, while I was involved in the H3 story, I didn't write it, as the article implies. I did do a ton of the combat dialog and work on the early outline of the story, as well as the Terminals (with Robt McLees and Damian Isla) but to say I wrote it would be plain false. Anyway, when you see me talking about the franchise, unless I say otherwise, I am talking about Nylund novels, action figures, Legends and so on. Bungie is still making incredible Halo games and still the only game in town, last time I checked, and we're not even in the ballpark of talking about what happens after that. The only future Halo gameplay I am ever refering to is Reach and ODST. So y'know. Relax. Bluntly speaking, this happened before the Halo 3 launch too, where folks just start specumalatin' about the future and how we're going to ruin it next (thanks Halo2sucks.com). Anyway, USA Today story - I was talking about a six year plan for the fiction, which is largely things you care about that aren't games, like the next Nylund story. We're trying to be careful not to forget about characters, or leave giant loose ends hanging, or introduce characters or events that don't have purpose. USA Today just had me in there to add hot manly sex appeal to the sales story success of ODST, which is what we should be talking aboot.
