In Response To: Must be... news, Louis? (vector40) That picture shows the card containing a Microsoft Ship-It award. See, anytime you are part of a team that ships a product at Microsoft, you win a Ship-It award, which is a piece of glass roughly the size of a hardback book (but not as thick). The glass has SHIP • IT embossed on the top, followed by a little song-and-dance about your contribution to Microsoft history, the signatures of Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, and your name engraved on a small piece of metal. This text is in a column in the center of the glass, leaving a column of blank space on each side. This is where the card on the webcam comes in. Inside the card is a small sticker featuring the logo of the product you just shipped. (The sticker inside the card on the webcam has the Xbox logo.) You apply this sticker to the empty space on your piece of glass. This way, when you ship something, Microsoft can just send you a new sticker instead of a whole new piece of glass. And you get the satisfaction that comes with personally applying a sticker to a piece of glass until that piece of glass is full of stickers - at which point you get a fresh piece of glass and the cycle begins anew. Boy, would those girls who taunted me in third grade with their enormous albums full of puffy vinyl stickers (the coolest kind) be jealous now! It's sort of like owning an old VW Minibus, but it's really small, it doesn't move, and the stickers on the glass say Xbox and Halo rather than "Save The Whales" and "I Visited Graceland."
