Random musing about the Cov/Human war

I've been reading the forum lately and I've read almost every theory on why the Covs hate us so much. Some say its because the humans and the Cov share a common ancestor or heritage that the humans betrayed and thats why they want us dead. I know its not like Bungie but what if the reason is something much less complex. What if the Covs just don't like us because we're different, kinda like racism, or because we practice a different religion, like the Muslims like to kill the non-muslims. I know it seems to simple, and it lacks references and details from the game, but a lot of the other theories lack evidence as well, unless it comes form FoR which i havent read. Well if you actually read, i'ld like to thank you for listening to my pyscho babble.
