Warhammer 40k statue made from an Elite *Semi OT*
Posted By: Hikaru-119Date: 3/28/09 7:03 p.m.

This is more for those that enjoy both Warhammer 40k and Halo equally, as I do. My friend and I saw the halo Wars figures at Gamestop and decided to pick two of them up. We are currently converting them into piece of terrain for our city fight boards. This is the first of six statues that we are making. Sorry for the crappy quality in most of the pics.

This is the figure out of the box with no modification.

Base figure

At this point we choose what pose we want our statue to have. Once chosen we take some gap filling modeling or super glue and place it in the belly joint to make it stay.

Glue into place

Here is a piece of the model that we do not need. The fins were chosen because they do not translate well as a part of a stone statue.

Parts we don't need 01

Here we remove the fins. 'nuff said.

Fin removal

Here we make cuts and dents along the model. This is to give the impression that the model has seen combat. It is also to help show aging of the statue.

Battle damage

Here we remove one of the arms. This can either be because the arm was blown off in the hectic combat scenario that is the 41st Millennium or because of aging in general. In this case we left our model to be able to represent both of these possibilities.

Extra details

Here we took a can of modeling spray paint and base coated our statue black. Be sure to use only enough otherwise it will take forever to dry on and you'll end up ruining some of the finer details of your statue.

Base coating

Here we did a layer of Chaos Black over the whole model just to make sure we got all of the little spots that needed to be filled in.

Second coat

After the last coat was dry we applied a dry brush coat of a mix between Fortress Grey and Codex Grey. This was done to show the age of the statue and to highlight it to the best of our ability. Here to see the finished product.

Dy brush and finish

All in all this took maybe two hours because we were taking our time and were working on about a dozen trees at the time as well. I hope you all enjoyed this. Hopefully the links actually worked as well...
