Just read Genesis. A few vaguish details

Yup, the graphic novel included in the Halo Wars LCE, written by Mr Nylund.
Thanks to the occasional benefits of online retailers, mine arrived just a couple of hours ago, so that's one day before the official release here.

I'm going to keep spoilers vague, but I thought some people would like some bare bones info.

So then, hardback, 46 pages of story, all full colour.
I'm hardly a comic connoisseur, but I would hazard a guess that if one liked the HGN, this is a nice addition to it.

Vague Spoilers, but spoilers none the less

-Timeline wise, starts with the Heracles battle group arriving at Harvest system, October 7, 2525.
-Finally learn a bit of background information of Preston Cole, who was retired at the time.
-Early Covenant engagements were covered up by ONI and reported as the work of insurgents until after locations known only as Second Base and Green Hills were glassed. Unable to cover up two million deaths, the threat of the Covenant is made public and the entire UNSC fleet is assigned to Cole to combat them.
-A few details about subsequent battles. UNSC victories but with an atrocious casualty rate.
-The capture of at least one Covenant survivor, an Elite, from a cruiser that crash landed after the Battle of the Great Bear, December 24, 2530. Mortally wounded and dies aboard the UNSC Everest after being interrorgated by Cole. The first draft of the Cole Protocol is created.

That's the UNSC history part. The next 29 pages or so focus on why Spirt of Fire heads to Harvest, what happened when they first arrived and why Anders is involved.

The following 8 pages show us a bit more about the HW Arbiter. Who he was, the great crime he commited, his sentence and subsequently becoming the "Seventeenth Arbiter in the line of Immaculate Succession", his mission to secure the Forerunner treasure world of Harvest.

The final page is the first scene of the Halo Wars opening.
