Team HBO (and friends), still cruisin! *Long post*
Posted By: Avateur <avateur@gmail.com>Date: 1/7/09 1:43 a.m.

This write-up consists of games played on the 26th and 28th of December (bye bye 2008!) and . This covers quite a bit, so I'll keep the stories relatively short (for the most part) while providing plenty of screenshots!

We're going back in time to Christmas! Well, it was the night of Christmas... okay, it was the 26th at 2:43 AM PST and no one had gone to sleep yet, so it was still Christmas as far as we were concerned! This game was more of a Hawty McBloggy/HBO game.

Game one: Neutral Assault on Avalanche.

Let's meet the players:

Bloggy.Bungie.Org (Lawl):

bs angel
CrazedOne1988
A10M1C
SonofMacPhisto
Znite
Penguin Ninjoid
And two randoms:
bigtex210 187
Master Gigs 117

Opposing Team:

LAHAINAPUMPBOY
DEATH FISHYFISH
DEATH FISHYFISH(G)
Kid Dieg0
XAMEIL
B00STED4LIFE
IIIICRIMSONIIII
KANAKTION808

The night began as the first annual "Play as MacPhisto" night of gaming, where everyone (except angel) dawned MacPhisto's Elite avatar, Elite armor, and colors. My emblem is already a "9" and MacPhisto's is normally a "7" so the rest of the team dawned 4, 6, and 8 respectively (except angel, who kept her own emblem).

The tone of this game could best be described as intense(ly boring), with plenty of skirmishes but almost no bomb planting. Our side armed the bomb three times; the enemies armed it once. In the end, two of our bomb plants were successful, and their only plant was successful.

The second bomb score that occurred near the end of the never-ending 20 minute game was of note, as angel delivered with her fist what I translated into words: Stay out of her way!

Game two: Big Team Slayer on Avalanche.

Before the next game, we added Mr Meyagi to the roster. All but two players on the opposing team quit under the might of our mighty mightiness.

Not to discount my teammates, but this game was a pretty special game because of how MacPhisto and I went about playing it. Over the past few months we've been developing the perfectly deadly Warthog duo of destruction (demolition derby on crack on speed) with me as the driver and him as the gunner. What unfolded is what I like to call a "Hog Perfection," or me staying alive the entire game while constantly driving into the front lines and allowing my gunner to kill everything that moves. I ended up getting two splatters, 21 wheelmen, and 0 deaths - all 21 of the kills coming from MacPhisto (who sadly got killed by an enemy turret for his only death in the game).

To make things more amusing, MacPhisto had the laser and a rocket launcher, and I had a sniper rifle and a rocket launcher, and to top it off we both had overshields. Our Hog was really a tank.

The entire team didn't quit out for quite a while and there were plenty of opportunities for both of us to die, but some clutch shooting, expert driving, and great teamwork paved the way to victory!

Game three: "Stupid Elites" on Epitaph Slayer Rumble Pit

It was almost bed time so we decided to hop into Rumble Pit in our MacPhisto colors for one final game of the night. The roster:

CrazedOne1988
SonofMacPhisto
Znite
Penguin Ninjoid
Mr Meyagi

We all battled it out with one another until Crazed got to 24 kills, at which point we decided it'd be a good time to meet up on the floating platform and have a meeting. Said meeting consisted of all of us throwing our grenades down at the same time and then watching the fireworks.

Big Elites fly quite well.

The huge explosions gave us an opportunity to get artistic and creative with our screenshots. These next three screenshots I took depict the story of five Elites who activated something in Epitaph with some crazy consequences.

First, the blinding light from the activation.

Second, the activation begins to take effect.

Finally, who knows what is happening/what will happen to these Elites...

Mr Meyagi took this one.

That was all for the 26th. On to the 28th!

Game one: Big Team Slayer on Avalanche

This next game was filled with randoms, as we created a "mixed" team of four that I like to call "Tied the Bloggy dot Bungie dot Org." Doesn't it have a nice ring to it? The rosters:

TBBO:

Znite
TTL L askan
bs angel
the light show
Random players:
Bloderhead
ALEX090788
SINISTERLAUGH4U

Opposing Team:

GirKS3tt
HAYLOALDAILO
ViscousK Dog
GirKS3tt(G)
Kassell
Cypher Cobra
TorturedKAGE001

This game started out with bs angel wearing that special, highly covetted armor in order to, in her own words, look her very best for the screenshots that MacPhisto and I had been taking as of late. Not much to say about this game other than we won by a sizeable amount.

bs angel and I chased someone through this portal. She kept teabagging the ground in anticipation of them running back through, and I kept boosting constantly hoping to splatter the person upon exiting. The person never came back, so we got bored and left.

But it was okay, because we met back up later anyway. I got my first (and second) Vehicular Manslaughters ever in this game. I wanted it so badly that I boosted straight through keyhole and right into angel. All askan could do was watch, and laugh. Oops!

The final (slightly bigger) picture of this game portrays me flying the Hornet, bs angel firing to the side, and the light show aiming forward as needles whiz by and enemies in a regen fire at us from the front. They didn't escape our wrath.

The game went well and was extremely fun. Now for a game that didn't go well at all and was a complete and total embarrassment.

Game two: Big Team Slayer on Rat's Nest

This game was a complete and total disaster with an unending amount of betrayals (all accidental) and a total breakdown in teamwork. Team HBO got its ass handed to itself. The rosters:

Team HBO (Team Suck):

CrazedOne1988
the light show
j41m3z
Znite
Mariachi 10
elpolloguapo
And one random:
ANBU BIZARRE

Opposing Team:

Dnkykllr
Carnage654
KawRyder
Criticality
bignastyturtle
Solid77Snake777
SKELETOR211

This game was marked with shame, just like the Arbiter. We got destroyed, plain and simple.

One of the first things that happened in the game was when some random grenade launched our Hog straight into Crazed and ANBU, giving me both betrayals, and throwing us (j41m3z, elpolloguapo, and myself) right off the cliff.

Another sad event occurred when elpolloguapo decided that he was the Ninja Driver. Having had plenty of time to see and react to a trip mine, guapo decided it'd be a good idea to try and squeeze around a corner instead of go in another direction. What he didn't know was that this trip mine just happened to be a mini nuke.

So yeah, we lost.

And now to conclude this very long post with a game from January 5th (Happy New Year)! petetheduck wrote about it here, but I thought I'd give my spin on it.

Epic Comeback on Rat's Nest

The roster is on pete's writeup. We were playing some trash talking Generals who in the pregame lobby told us they'd be handing us a swift and steady defeat. I hastily replied with mockery and lulz. This game progressed in four phases. The first phase was when the opposing team armed the bomb twice in a two minute period, scored one of those times, and then armed and scored around the three minute mark. The second phase was when I got ahold of the bomb and held it for two minutes above the bridge as they searched all over for me. The third was when we made an epic comeback and tied it.

The fourth was when Mr ON3 sH0t ran that bomb across the map by himself, Senor Leche and I took off on foot to catch up with him, and then defended the bomb until it was armed. pete forgot to give Leche props, so I'll do it. One second left on the bomb, bodies everywhere, two bee-faced (Security Helmet) killers reloading their shotguns looking bad ass, standing victoriously. Game over.
