In Response To: Pelican compared to real tank (Stephen L. (SoundEffect))

: The conclusion: The tank won't fit the troop bay as designed (with the seats
: in the way and such), but the length, width and height of the troop bay is
: indeed big enough to house an Abrams MBT. The Pelican is big indeed!

I'm a little hesitant to say it would really fit, saying as when it comes to cargo capacity, I follow the mantra: "If the door won't close, then it doesn't fit."
That's certainly the case with the Abrams by a good few metres.

Must say I never really felt the Pelican was any smaller than it really was, nor am I particularly surprised about its actual size.
Maybe I'm a little too familiar with real life military aviation.
Its a pretty similar size to a CH-47 Chinook actually, with an overall similar role.

Though probably the closest match to its overall dimensions is the Kawasaki C-1.
So if it helps to get a real-world sense of scale, a Pelican more or less fits in this space in terms of length and height. Pelican has a shorter wingspan though.
Note the conveniently placed gent for scale.

As long as you remember its a transport rather than a gunship, you're fine scale wise.
Horrifically inefficient design the Pelican though, unless its carrying a full load of troops and a Scorpion. :)
