Pelican compared to real tank | |

Recently, I got an email from someone writing/editing a Halo wiki entry on some aspects covered in the Art of Halo 3. He asked if I could confirm or deny a notation within suggesting the Pelican was big enough an Abrams M1A1 Main Battle Tank could fit inside its troop bay. I recall reading this text from the art book and another on the same page indicating that the, "Pelican is huge, but it seems very few people fully grasp its hugeness." I have always realized just how big it is, but the view you get in-game makes items seem smaller than they really are. To settle a debate between my contact and a friend as to Bungie's claim regarding the Pelican and Abrams, I did a comparison graphic using the Halo 2 Pelican and a top and side diagram of the tank. The conclusion: The tank won't fit the troop bay as designed (with the seats in the way and such), but the length, width and height of the troop bay is indeed big enough to house an Abrams MBT. The Pelican is big indeed! Here's the diagram I made: Pelican/Abrams Size Comparison
