So, before i go into details, let me explain the mod. Info can be garnered here ( http://www.h2vista.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8382 ), but ill do a quick overview. High Res Halo is a total graphic overhaul of Halo 1. I love the gameplay of the original halo, but the graphics are out of date by far. As a side project for me and a few friends, we've been upgrading the looks to a standard gen level. So, this is really a premium mod as not everybody can run it. If you have halo Custom Edition, you should definitely keep an eye on this. If you have Halo PC, go download Halo Custom Edition. Its free for PC users. Heres the contest deal. Currently i'm remodeling one of the most legendary custom maps, originally made by Mrs Doublefire who now works at Bungie. Heres a few shots of that so far. http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/3245/vshotrc5.png
The original level is one of the largest maps ever made in Halo, and so forth it requires the work of four maps in one to update the graphics. the most challenging part is filling all that empty space with interesting geometry and pretty things to look at. One way im going to do that is through detail objects on the ground, like trash. So, i'm having a little contest for people to get a bit more active in the halo CE community. These objects will be used in the city based map, Rebirth-Circollosi, a remake of New Mombassa Classic. More info here. The top 7 groups of objects will be included in the map. PRIZES--
Monetary prizes coming later. RULES-- 1. objects must be equal to or less that 300 TRIANGLES, not POLYGONS. sometimes you people get that confused. 2. objects must be skinned with nothing greater than a 256x256 map. 128^2 preferred. Only diffuse, no specular or bump. 3. You MUST have at least 4 objects in your pack, maximum of 8 objects. 4. You can enter as many item packs as you want. 5. The privelege of enjoying tests with us can be revoked at any time, if for any time you are suspected or proven to be less than trustworthy. You will lose this privelege twice as fast if you gloat to people that you have the privelege. I really dont have to explain common sense, but people worry me sometimes. 6. You have until May 1st to complete your work.
