Bungie's quote on a Public Server Browser in H3 | |

Just noticed on the front page the post about Planet Halo's article. Just thought I'd let Louis Wu and other folks know where that 'Server Browser promise' that Mr. Titan mentioned originated from. Here's the quote from Dec. 2006 EGM (p 102-104). "..But now you can go one better: You can advertise it. Bungie has revamped Halo 3's Xbox Live interface to include a hopper just for custom game types. Here, you can post your DIY variant along with how many players you're seeking-for example say you only have four friends online and need to recruit another four. "It's like the oft-requested matchmaking for custom games," Green says. "If you want to play some crazy variant that you can't find in the hopper, what you can do is create that game, advertise it on Xbox Live public, and then see if people want to play it. Or go the other way: Check to see if there are any of those particular types of games going on.” In addition to the public browser for custom variants..." Don’t know if this was a ‘promise’ or not, but I do know anything can be cut in development. Sad this was one of those things, and I doubt Bungie could retroactively implement this into the game...but oh well! I guess I'll just have to be happy with the final product that already sucks hours and hours out of my life. :)
