'Halo: pixelated' resurrected *IMGS*

Did it die? No… Just a little thing called college and Halo 3 shoved it out of my focus. You can see the other two updates I posted here on the forums by clicking here for the first, and here for the second.

So, I started making this thing for fun along time ago… Then in the last year got serious about making it real and playable, foolishly trying to make a shooting a game in a strictly RPG making program (which is horribly frustrating but truly inspiring at the same time).

I know I said I would try and release it soon after that last update…but life likes to take up my time instead of letting me devout myself utterly to my arts and crafts…

So what I have actually gotten done? A lot of little things: the title screen, the menu setup, and a ton of other stuff you forget takes a heap of work for a video game's presentation (Evil Otto deserves praise, while on the subject…). Big things: once again I decided to trash my graphics palette and begin anew on the Pillar of Autumn’s indoor looks. I used to use a lot of stuff that came with the program for this section, but now it’s all mine. Hopefully it’s a lot more faithful to the original. I’m working on music as well. I have a few things I’ve cooked up in a free midi-maker program and I’ll be looking to contact a few people to get permission to use their midis for the game as well.

Here's a few similar shots from each update to show my progress.

First up, the opening shot. Old pic from the first update on the left, newness on the right.

Halo: A view of the ringworld from the different updates- from left to right: earliest to latest graphics. Notice the rolling hills in the final graphic!

The Forerunner structure: First is from the older update. Next is the latest. Forerunner architecture has a bit more themed design to it now. Coolest thing: Blue flare that shoots to the sky every few moments! (It’s the little things that count.)

Finally - the light bridge works!

Pillar of Autumn: Remastered.

Here you can see the original graphics set for the first level of the game.

This image is the new cyro chamber. Again, I’m trying to get more of the looks of the real POA. The old stuff looked like it was barely hanging together and more like a big Millennium Falcon than a UNSC Halcyon-class destroyer.

This image shows me in progress of creating lifepods for the Covenant and the UNSC.

Ahh, the bridge. Old version is on the left, though there is still placeholders for the soldiers and Keyes on the recent shot on the right. At least Keyes has moved up from crazy-anime-pirate. I’m pretty happy with how the looks have come along. Working on the tiny details like computer screens and displays are some of the most fun...

Well that’s it for now. I’m going to start focusing on finishing this first episode which includes the Pillar of Autumn and Halo levels (or at least my re-imaginings of them) after finals next week. My goal, as realistic as I can make it, is to finish this and release the first episode during my winter break before I go back to college.
