While we're in the music kick, I stumbled upon a video of the Halo theme being played at "Games in Concert" in Holland. At first it might sound a tad unpleasant (it sounds much different than the actual theme's recording, OR VGL's performance of it), but it makes for a quite a variant of the theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJeRY_w-1wM Sounds much more "African." Sounds more like a Halo 2 theme than the Mjolnir Mix. At least the theme of the game would make more sense toward a theme change than just throwing in a guitar. Don't get me wrong, I like the Mjolnir Mix, but this sound would have fit Halo 2's atmosphere well, IMO.
