So I found out a way to get a Warthog over the gap in the first bridge, the one that has cement blockades on it. This is extremely handy, as it means you can use a warthog during the two waves of Brutes on Phantoms and then the Tank that follows. I found this extremely useful in getting through that encounter on legendary. I was going to post a bunch of images to show exactly how this is done but it looks like Bungie.net doesn't want to cooperate and has only uploaded the latter half of the walkthrough. First you have to get through the first part of the level to the area where the convoy has been hit by covenant forces. In the first building on your right as you enter the convoy area is a grav lift. Jump out and grab it. Once you've cleared the area out and continued onto the area you'll get to the smashed up bridge. Usually here you would have to dump your warthog and continue on foot, but instead we'll be taking the warthog with us. Let the marines jump out and cross the bridge. Back the warthog up and line it up with the gap in the cement blockade that the marines go through. Jump out of the hog and run to this gap, throw down your grav lift between the cement blocks and get back into the warthog. Make sure you have sufficient distance to punch the warthog into gear and get some good speed before you hit the grav lift. If you have good aim and hit the grav lift correctly, you'll be launched up through the small gap and fly a good distance right over the gap. Just make sure to put the brakes on BEFORE you land, otherwise you are viable to drive straight into the hole in the road on the other side of the gap. Then you have free reign to use the warthog however you wish! Pick up some marines and start driving around the area. The best way to take down most of the brutes when you have the hog here is just to gun it and run them over, but it takes a fair bit of accuracy and luck to not tip the warthog over amongst all the junk laying around in that area. Whenever a phantom comes, hide the hog behind the bunker the marines are hiding in. Wait for the phantom to go away ((or blow it up if you so wish)) otherwise you put the hog in danger of being destroyed. I find it most effective to park the warthog behind the cement blockades for cover and sit in the gunner seat picking off the jetpack brutes as they jump around. If you're quick enough you can take out the main weapon on the phantom quite quickly with the warthog turret and then the only real issue is the brutes. Just make sure not to stay on the Warthog too long, or they'll quickly catch on and you'll be swimming in grenades. A link showing that it is possible is below! Good flying!
