new site, new idea, new user
Posted By: yankeyhotel <yankeyhotel@haloanyone.com>Date: 10/10/07 1:31 a.m.

Hi everybody, I have been a fan of this site for a while now, but just decided to go ahead and sign up for the forums.

But anyways, the other night while I was taking some screen shots in Halo 3, I had an idea and a cool challenge for the Halo community. Could I take screen shots inside of the Halo 3 engine in an artistic way, using only what the "camera" would allow me to do. I studied art in college and took a bunch of photography courses, which I loved. One of the things we learned was that you should always try and "frame" your photograph in the camera and not rely on things like the development process and photoshop to alter your images.

In keeping with this idea I have started a new blog "abstrakt - art from inside the halo 3 engine" <http://abstrakt.haloanyone.com>. I will follow three self imposed rules for the site.

1) All the "photographs" on my site will be taken from inside the Halo 3 "camera."

2) None of the images will be altered in anyway other than resizing them to fit within my blog. I will always have a link on the blog to my bungie.net service record for anyone to check out my most recent photos, this way it will keep me honest, as well as give people a way to download high res versions.

3) The primary focus of the photographs will be truly artistic in nature (as opposed too "this really sweet stick" which I have taken plenty of)

I hope some people will enjoy the site as well as be challenged along with me to making art with the halo 3 camera. thanks for you time.
