Why are H3 support weapons used in third-person?
Posted By: RocksliderDate: 8/24/07 12:29 p.m.

I hear that when you use an H3 support weapon such as the flamethrower, your view is third-person even if you're walking around with it (rather than using it mounted). Can anyone suggest the rationale for that?

I'm unhappy to hear it because a switch to third-person breaks the illusion of really being there in person - or at any rate it does for me. Suddenly you're out-of-body and it's like you're controlling a puppet. I never liked that in H1 when using a turret or driving a vehicle, and in H3 it could make me reluctant to pick up support weapons much. Ok I got used to the intermittent third-person view in H1, but I still wish it had ALL been first-person. It's not just for realism either; I think vehicle use would be a lot more exciting in first-person, just as with soldiering on foot.
