| Most Epic "omfg1v1LockoutMLGfoo" Match Ever UPDATED | |

Many of you are acquainted with e, and the quicker among you may even think first of the head of Xbox Live operations and not the drug. Tonight, in conjunction with Bothari, Kitty and Ragedoll, e hijacked me from my home where I was very contently (re: drunkenly) playing Halo 2 with some Gunslingers. We went to e's place to play Guitar Hero 2 and Monopoly. Mario Monopoly, because the standard edition just isn't nerdy enough for us. After some sort of petty dispute, I declared a 1v1 Lockout, which e brazenly accepted. To set the stage, e and I have previously butted heads in an epic 1v1. There was an incident at Gameworks in which we took an 11-11 air hockey match into overtime - meaning the table and scoreboard had been turned off leaving only the puck, the paddles and the hair on our chest in play. e stole the game and a small part of me that night, so I had something to prove tonight. But what made this match special, you might ask? Put your hand down, there's no fucking audience participation, would be my reply. This was perhaps the most epic Halo 2 1v1 evarz because we attempted to play our Halo 2 match with the Guitar Hero 2 controllers. A condition which simultaneously provided e the only route through which he could hope to achieve victory and me with a chance to actually prove some sort of worth with the guitar after failing Heart-Shaped Box on easy only minutes before. We were able to navigate the menu easily enough and were promptly dropped into Lockout, but that's where the ease of use ends. When we spawned our characters were frantically spinning in circles, e finally figured out that the whammy bar was controlling the X-axis. Not only that, but to stabilize it, the whammy bar needs to be half-way depressed. Push it all the way down and it turns right, let it go all the way out and it's pulling left. Even more bizarrely, the Y-axis was controlled by the motion sensor. Tilt the guitar up to look up (on normal settings) and vice versa. A, B, X, Y functioned as expected. What we never did quite figure out was what was controlling the triggers, just that something was. Unfortunately, we found no way to actually move our characters and by default we spawned far away and in no position to see each other. In order to have some hope of actually achieving a kill, we chose a different and symmetrical map where we might have a chance of spawning facing each other. We chose Midship and frenziedly stabilized our wildly spinning characters after spawning. We fumbled for a moment, trying to get a decent angle in order to get a shot off in the general direction of the other. Then we tried to find out how to fire. Finally and mysteriously, e took a shot. At the ground. KP takes the lead! Then, as a result of my celebrating, I somehow hucked a sticky at the wall in front of me and the match was even. But not for long! as e's character spawned and blew himself up, the right trigger still apparently active. When I respawned the same thing happened, and again to e. Then I out-smarted the slow-witted bald man, a skill I attained in my time at Bungie, by simply hitting the pause button, freezing my score at -2 while he continued to spawn and kill himself. KP wins and evens the e/KP 1v1 circuit. I believe we've just begun to scratch the surface of alternately controlled Halo matches. I'd love to see future matches featuring dance pad vs. guitar, wheel and pedals vs. flight stick, etc. If there's any community with the dedication - and seemingly endless supply of free time - to explore such a nonsensical concept, it is the Bungie community.
