You can go through almost all of it without ever letting the enemy get up close - which is certainly the safest policy if you're interested in that (not that I don't enjoy a bit of gung-ho shotgun stuff too sometimes). A lot of the time they're too far off to even start shooting. I like going through letting them spawn as much as they like. None of this running-past-enemies business for me; I want maximum Bungie goodness! I'll trigger a new wave then back off to string them out and pick them off. It's a great pistol shoot from beginning to end, with just a few places where I'll be switching to a shotgun when forced into a tight situation. The level is repetitious of course, but together with the subdued creepy music, I find it sort of mesmerising. Relaxing even, when you're keeping you're distance nicely. It also has a significantly different feel to other levels, so I think it works nicely as a change of style. The main faults for me are that (1) the lighting is too dingy, giving an eye-straining low-contrast picture, and (2) in some places carrier forms impossibly materialize from nowhere, with potentially dire consequences to your person, which just isn't fair. : I like it when you are surrounded by Flood, your shields are down, and you : just have to keep jinking and jumping to avoid hits till your shields rise : again, meleeing infection forms and shotgunning that combat form b4 he : lashes you, trying to be in the gaps between the needles, hoping that your : shields will recharge in time. You have to know where all the threats are, : were you are in relationship to them, and were the next best place to be : is, constantly thinking, constantly moving, and playing by instinct. Its a : great workout. :) Nice bit of description - enjoyed your whole post in fact. It's not how things go when I play it from distance with a pistol, but I know the feeling you're talking about and it reminds me of some other Halo situations. Multiple threats coming in, having to quickly prioritize and deal with them, really pushing you to your limits; yeah, I get a kick out of that sort of thing too. : trying to be in the gaps between the needles You sure like living dangerously eh? And piling straight into the enemy at that T&R grav-lift? On Legendary? They should either give you a medal or a strait-jacket.
