LAN write-up
Posted By: KP <kp@bungie.org>Date: 7/31/05 7:52 p.m.

There was another LAN in CT this past Saturday which I attended, at the house of GT Juggler. It was a great time and he pulled off a pretty cool LAN. This lan had a pretty good amount of guys there, I believe there were 19 most of the day.

I arrived fashionably late at 1:30pm. When I got there most everybody was there and had already setup their systems. I think I saw 3 projectors and 2 HD TVs, there might've been more displays but I didn't do a large amount of exploration. When I arrived Furhman was asleep on the floor, business as usual (though surprisingly, no one put anything on his back this time). I couldn't begin to list the attendees, there were some regulars there but there were also several locals and some out of towners that I didn't know. A bunch of new faces who mostly turned out to be pretty cool. Except that guy who used his mic to make weird noises in the pre and post game lobbies the whole day, not realizing that it ceased being hillarious after the first time, he was pretty much a douche.

This LAN was a pretty good mix of Halo 1 and 2. When I got there it was Halo 1, they were doing modded maps which turned out to be really fun. We then switched to Halo 2 and played the usual mix of slayer, CTF and KOTH variants for a couple hours. Then the most fun I probably had was playing the Halo 1 gametypes that we didn't get to at the last lan: HEH CTF Rox, Wizard Oddy Rox, Longest KOTH Shotties and BC CTF Pro. They were all a blast, especially the KOTH match. We stopped a couple times to have some pizza and then later on to have some burgers and dogs from the grill. Juggler's dad is quite the grill master. Of note was their soda dispensing machine, which is just darn neat. The rest of the night was pretty much Halo 2, with my end coming after a few Halo 1 modded map games (most of them were maps made for Halo PC/CE and then ported to Xbox).

I had to leave around 11 because I had to work this morning, but I had a great time and wished I could've stayed longer. I'd like to say thanks to Juggler and his parents for letting a bunch of vagrants invade their home. Everything was excellent and I can't thank them enough for their hospitality.
