In Response To: Re: Hud options, dual-ies, etc. (Devil Mingy) : Halo 2 is a lot more strategic. Whether you like that or not is up to you. I
A 2 hour game of CTF suddenly sees 3 points scored in a row by a guy getting lucky with a ghost and an ubershield... I don't miss that either (dramatic as it was :P). Again, I am not denying that part of the issue is just getting used to the diminished ranges of the grenade/melee attacks (albeit that the melee lunge is still just awkward, but that is a different discussion entirely). What I am saying is that these once very powerful attacks (obviously/arguably too powerful for some) have been diminished to a point where if I only want to walk around with just one weapon, be it a pistol/SMG/BR/&tc., that my being able to readily throw a grenade or melee someone is not an effective equivalent to the firepower gained by dual wielding, even though they "cannot" melee or grenade throw (it is still just a button away). Dual wielding should kick ass or there is no point in it being in the game, so decreasing damage inflicted by it (or something-or-other) is not the answer. I am merely submitting that a suitable compensation for the present dominance/dependence on dual wielding would be to reinstate the grenade blasts and melee ranges, if only slightly, to allow single weapon users to be more effective. Of course, this would require some tests and tweaks, but it's one possible solution... Finn
