Help Please. *OT*
Posted By: The Big L 032 <tlambwvw@hotmail.com>Date: 12/22/04 7:04 p.m.

Ok. I have a bit of a dilemma. Now please dont flame cuz of my computer stupidness. But this happened a whiel ago, and i know alot of you people here are simply amazing with computers so here it goes.

A while back in April, I got a virus on my PC. I downloaded a virus detector and found the problem. The Detector doesnt delete the virus though because it is a freeware item. So i find the file, and delete it. A message comes up saying "are you sure you want to delete this it is part of a system file..blah blah blah." So me, being the idiot i was, deleted it anyways.

So about a month later (i didnt use my computer too much round then) I try to pop a cd in. The DVD drive doesnt work. I figured i jsut needed a new drive and waited because I rarely use the DVD drive anyways. So recently I've been trying to use it to install new components, i.e. network card, antivirus, games. But it doesnt work. then i realize taht on the start up screen (i have windows 98SE, kinda out of date i know.) it says "missing or corrupted file on Line 6 of config.sys. and Missing OAKCDROM.SYS"

So i download the file OAKcDROM.sys in hopes this would solve the problem. I put it into the proper place and everything. Nothing. But now on the start up screen it says soemthing like "Oak Technology driver OTI-910x" or something (ill get the facts if some1 helps me).
So i have quite a dilemma. I cant transfer via network because thats one of the things im trying to install but cant becuse i need the CD to work. And i cant boot up with a boot disc because hey.. My cd-rom doesnt work.

So if anyone has any idea what im talking about and knows how to fix it or a possible solution, either post here or AIM me The Big L 032 or email me.

thankyou

-Felix
