The bottom line is that getting the Xbox version done is something that we want to do as much as Microsoft wants us to do it, and to do it well and on schedule is a massive effort that requires the team to focus on that one version of the game. No one is forcing us to delay anything. There are only so many hours in the day and there are good and bad ways to allocate them. The Halo team chose to finish one version of the game before they worried about anything else. Alex met with some of the Microsoft folks a couple weeks ago and one of the topics they discussed was whether the Halo team would do the Mac/Windows versions themselves when they finished the Xbox version or if we wanted to get some other developers to start on it a little earlier than that. I doubt they would have asked us the question if they didn't care about the answer. For that matter, I got a couple emails yesterday from Microsoft people asking me to let people know the "Mac/PC Halo cancelled" rumor was bogus (not that I wouldn't have done so otherwise). While I'm on the subject, I'll go a step further and point out (again) that the Mac and PC versions of the game will be interoperable, and that the sky is not falling. -Matt | |
