In Response To: Clones and Lies: A Theory Worth Reading (Metatron) While your theories are generally well-researched, you overlooked one detail in First Strike that kind of negates the vast majority of this theory. It is stated in First Strike (can't remember page) that Chiron is either on or in orbit around Mars. It's a reference to Li's zero-g training, I believe. And don't tell me that if it's a zero-g environment that it can't have gravity, just look at the Pillar of Autumn for an example of human artificial gravity, it's likely that zero-g is just one aspect of the Chiron facility. As far as Ackerson using it, that seems likely, but it's not on Halo. Kudos on the SPARTAN clone mention, though. I'd caught it, but given the 2 1/2 years between the time Halo was released and the time I got it, I just made the assumption that it was a dead-horse subject by now. Mea Culpa. However, allow me to back up what you said about Ackerson knowing about Halo beforehand. While it may not necessarily be him, somebody in the UNSC does know about Halo. For evidence of this, I present that Derelict is catalogued by the UNSC as a Deep Space Anomaly (can't remember number), but if you look out the windows, or better yet get out of the map, you'll see that Derelict is in the Threshold system. However, the fact that Derelict itself is recorded as a deep-space anomaly means that (regardless of the view, I think that Bungie just didn't have time to give different viewpoints of the same system) it is a separate object from Halo, and I highly doubt that the UNSC could find something as small as Derelict and somehow miss a ringworld of 10,000 km diameter (or was it radius? I'll have to bring the books back to college with me this weekend). So the idea that someone in the UNSC knew about Halo beforehand is almost a logical necessity. Keep up the speculation! | |
