Bungie's weird definition of "Library" | |
Posted By: Anton P. Nym (aka Steve) <sumpca@yahoo.com> | Date: 5/29/04 2:49 p.m. |
With the launch of the new forums over on bungie.net, they added "The Library" for X-box players' posts. Normally I wouldn't go, as I'm PC-only right now, but I decided to poke around the new site a while ago... and the header block caught my eye. They seem to define the terms of each forum in the header block, and the first line of the definition "Library" is pretty stock. However, the second one caught my eye: a collection of cloned DNA sequences whose location and identity can be established by mapping the genome of a particular organism. Puts a whole new spin on my understanding of what those big, watery-looking screens were in the Library level now... more like the shelves aboard the Titan in Titan A.E. than as a computer core a la 2001. So the Library stores gene sequences for reconstituting extinct species, does it? It also might bring up a few different ideas on how the "fortress world" works. ISTR the concept of "seeding" coming up earlier in the forums... this might tie in quite well with that. Well, that's my 15 minute break gone. Go, run with it folks! -- Steve is aware that may be making mountains out of molehills, though. |
