Depending on the power source, chances are that's not true. For instance, a nuclear bomb unleashes a hellacious amount of power, but if you destroy it with say, a big conventional bomb, you don't have a nuclear explosion. In fact, the ONLY way to trigger a nuclear bomb is to start the fission reaction, a process which in itself is very precise and takes a lot of fine-tuned machinery and technology. (In essence, this is why nuclear bombs are actually safer to store than conventional bombs.) Nuclear power sources work in much the same way. You may have an assload of plutonium held somewhere to use for power, but it's not gonna do anything (except, in plutonium's case, give you cancer) unless that one reaction goes as it should. 343's and Halo's power source could be much the same- in fact, it SHOULD be that way. Having enough power for Halo and 343 to run for that amount of time held in such a fashion as a conventional bomb is just asking to shoot yourself in the knee. For Halo to have a constant, long lasting power source, it needs either replenishable (solar, or maybe some cool magnet/gravity type power that is fueled by threshold's gravity and magnetic energy. That would kick ass) or storeable tpes of power. Hence, upon it's desctruction, Halo wouldn't have sent a huge death wave of dark doominess or whatever. That was long and pointless, eh?
