Why are Halo pings always higher? | |

When I cmd.exe->ping 69.93.114.202 (HBO-COERCE), I averaged 73 ms. In Halo, I normally average around 100~120 ms. Why the discrepency? Is it because the netcode is so much more complex that it takes extra processor cycles to calculate a ping response? I know the netcode still needs to be optimized... but... oh well. -RunningRiot PS: I've set up a (free) http://dyndns.org account for the HBO-COERCE server. Now, instead of typing 69.93.114.202:2305 into the direct IP box in halo, you can simply type hbo.game-host.org:2305. It may be about the same length, but it is easier to remember. |
