STK vs TDT Reload Trick?
Posted By: mikeman445 <mmcardle@drew.edu>Date: 2/11/04 8:41 p.m.

Hey all, just thought I'd throw out a quick question, to hopefully get it answered quicker than the HBO archives search feature(which is still searching, 20 minutes after I clicked the search button). In the video posted a while back that showed the AGP finals of Shoot to Kill versus The Dream Team in Chill Out, the shaky-cam was on STK. I've watched that video countless times, because it seems so cool, and the skill involved is amazing, but there is one thing I don't understand.

I'm well familiar with the standard reloading tricks: after starting the reload animation, wait until the right moment, and then either melee or switch weapons to instantly fill up the clip. It works for every weapon except the shotgun.

However, in the video, they do something I had never seen before, and, indeed, it happens so fast I didn't even notice it at first. The OGRE twins seemed to do it the most, but I thought I saw Clockwork do it once or twice as well. They take out the sniper rifle, fire a couple of shots (or even a full clip), and then seem to start the reload animation and right away switch to another weapon (usually the assault rifle). It happens so fast that I can't even tell when they hit "reload", but they must, for when they switch back to the SR after a little bit, they have a full clip.

I'll reiterate, to ward off flames. They don't do the standard trick. They switch to another weapon within a quarter of a second of hitting the reload button. Then, when they switch back, they have a full clip. I've tried it out on my own, and cannot reproduce it. I haven't the faintest idea what they're doing.

Anyone know? Thanks in advance for educating me.
