I like the fact that you have refined the shape. the model feels alot more streamilined now and more worthy of its maiden voyage... I think before you try to reduce polycount or even take polycount into attention, you need to improve the "flow" of the model...take one step at a time... ;) you will also find, that when your model has "flow" your polycount sort of solves itself. I did a VERY QUICK and rough paintover on your screenshot [hope you don't mind]
I feel that as a beginner, you would be better off to improve the aesthetics of your model than to worry about technical squabbles with polycount, planar polys, tri-stripping, etc... I feel that after you have a great looking model, learning how to edit that model to make it technically sound is the best way to learn...I say this because when you want to keep your model looking great, you really do think about how you tear it apart technically... once you get used to making more and more models, the technical stuff will be second nature as you make an aesthetically pleasing piece of 3D meat. keep up the hard work... for your first model you are doing well... |
