Penny Arcade Game Day Early Report | |

I'm sure the PA, and maybe Lanwerx will probably have reports with pictures and all that stuff. But I'll just give you the early (late?) lowdown right now. There was plenty of Crazy Halo Madness. A beta version of Halo PC was there (although I wasn't playing it) and there were several two-Xbox networks going on. My team got fourth position in the amateur tournament, losing to the best team there (who went on to get second place) in a humiliating 50-7 or something like that. Oh well. I found a cardboard tube in the trash and got Gabe and Tycho to sign it. I think Gabriel might have actually misspelled his name or something on it. I don't know. I found Major Tom there. I never actually got to play on the same game with him though. I think Neo Alucard X was there too, but I'm not sure. Bungie was there, of course, showing off Halo 2 on a projector screen with a fairly good sound system. The quality is at least 100 times better than the videos released on the internet. Plus the first time, I was very close to the front. Prime viewing space. SketchFactor just cannot hit that jumping Ghost, though. The second time through I had terrible seating, but whoever was playing it decided to do things a little... differently. He shot the Marines in the head (although they take no damage) and actually got flipped out of the Ghost. They showed the intro there that they also used at the Fanfest, with Sarge yelling out the demo guy. I love that little "kick their sorry behinds" graphic. Oh, and I'm not sure what the "special surprise" might have been, but Bungie brought along some action figures for the PA guys to give out as they wanted to. They might have been prizes for the trivia contest or the tournaments or something. They looked damn nifty up close and in the (packaged) flesh. I'm signing off now, so I hope I didn't forget anything. I'm also hoping that I can flush the caffeine from all that Bawlz out of my system too... |
