Re: When she plays, she plays for keeps...

In Response To: Re: When she plays, she plays for keeps... (Finn)

: This may also be the case, that she has learned to physically manipulate her
: surroundings (who knows what she has discovered in those 12 hours :\ ).

: However, for the sake of discussion, which is more plausible: that she, as
: JAGUAR2G has stated, teleported the Index "the hell outta
: there", saving herself from being purged from the Core only through
: Guilty Spark's temporary ignorance of the Index's new location (he can
: look), or, that she has hidden it within herself somehow, putting Guilty
: Spark in a much more difficult situation considering that the Index he
: needs/wants and the AI he wishes to purge are now seemingly indivisible?

: In addition, when assuming the latter scenario, Cortana would then have
: continued access to the Index; she would own it, and not need to be
: bothered with retrieving it again at a later time. If we accept the former
: set of events, namely that the Index has been tangibly relocated, we are
: left with several difficulties to explain. It could be viewed as slightly
: risky for her to let an object of such importance out of her immediate
: possession once it had been acquired. Also, the events of the game do not
: see Cortana retrieve the Index from its undisclosed location (as we might
: expect her to), nor would she be able to via the Halo's teleportation grid
: after its complete destruction.

This brings a strange picture to my mind. Cortana and the MC are the sword in the stone. The sword (Cortana) is in the stone (the MC), whomever draws the sword from the stone becomes king (ruler of the galaxy).

: I propose that a resourceful, knowledge tantalized artificial intelligence
: such as Cortana would choose to assimilate the Index rather than merely
: "hide it out of sight" due to both the immediate survival value
: of the decision and for the continued security of possessing the Index for
: whatever reasons she might see fit.

I'm not going to argue with you on this because I agree with you. In fact, did we not already state that holograms were solid in Halo, thus the Index could be something like a Hologram and thus could be placed inside a computer or Cortana, no problem.

Just for fun, here are the first two paragraphs from one of my Fan Fics:

"Where is it?" said the tall and dark Forerunner.

"We don't know master, all we know is that the MR-343 Guilty Spark unit reported it was in something called Cortana," said the Covenant Prophet. "All your plans to release the Flood, everything went as planned, until that human showed up claiming to be the Reclaimer."

So what does this have to do with anything. Well the "it" they are looking for is the Index and basically it is in Cortana. Now unless you get your ideas from my stories, I'd say we came up with the same conclusions independently of each other.

Well let's see, one more point that probably can be used to support that Cortana has the Index (beside her actually telling 343 GS that she had it), before disabling the pulse generators, Cortana explains to the MC that they have to disable the pulse generators in case 343 GS or one of his Sentinels finds a way to activate Halo WITHOUT the Index. That tells me that Cortana is quite confident that 343 GS will not be able to get the Index. I suspect the case is that 343 GS can't get the Index because Cortana still has it.
