Okay,
So the thing I noticed when filming the hack video was that the banshee kept going, even after the elite was fried via the hack.
If you watch the video, the banshee keeps going after the elite falls out, and lands well beyond where it would have fallen.

So, clearly the banshee doesn't need a pilot to get within arm's reach of the master cheif. The following was done on a non-modded xbox, with no cheats...
Getting the Banshee in the Maw
Goal:
Object overload the game to erase the banshee pilot.
I had earlier experience doing this on level two to erase pilots, more info can be found here.
Level two might be a good place to practice, since there are no time limits.
Step 1- Prepare the following areas by object overloading at the lift.
This video shows where to stand so you don't actually have to do anything.

Step 2- Get on the elevator when things start to get weird.
You don't want to completely overload the game here to the point where player two isn't even spawning anymore... because odds are the banshees won't even spawn. You need to stop exactly when the MC stops spawning with his gun, or earlier. Remember to avoid looking at the dead MCs, so that they can vanish and allow more weapons to be dropped.
[You should notice, after starting to drive the warthog, that most or all of the enemies are still around.]
Step 3- Quickly drive both players to the loading zone before the foehammer scene.
When you get there, kill player 2 for at least a minute. If his gun stops appearing, you are done, and can move on.

Step 4- Snag the empty banshee.
Park the warthog as shown in the video and stand somewhere on the warthog where pressing x will not make you enter the warthog. Continually press x as the empty banshee flies over you... That's it!

Notes:
Object overloading is pretty awkward, and it is hard to know when you've gotten everything right. It is also a pain in the ass to wait for enough weapons to build up.
Don't get on to the lift until the MC's bodies are dissapearing when you are not looking at them.
