There is something a little odd about this shot, but I believe that's because the Chief isn't getting any direct light (only ambient light, which does not currently cast any shadows).

The result of that is the sort of shadowless appearance he has... if that scene was light only with dynamic, shadow casting lights, he'd probably be mostly black in that scene.

In answer to an earlier question, this shot is in fact new, and not a scene from the trailer.
