Australian television runs Halo ads
Posted By: Hedgemony <hedgemony343@hotmail.com>Date: 11/30/02 2:10 p.m.

All over aussie tv at the moment is an ad for the Xbox Massive Entertainmant Pack. Included in the pack is Halo, Jet Set Radio and SegaGT as well as a dvd unit. These ads have been on air for about two weeks now. The pack is retailing for under $500Aus. There's no excuse now for those who don't have an Xbox and Halo.

They are running two commercials, one tells you about the pack, the other goes into more detail.

The second ad is longer due to them showing footage from the games inside.

A direct quote, "The massive entertainmant pack includes the Xbox's number one selling game Halo." They go on about heart-stopping, adrenaline pumping action. The in-game footage is from cutscenes.

Halo is still getting love and from what my friends who still work in the retail stores are telling me, the pack is selling like hotcakes. The store I used to own is currently out of stock. They ordered around 50 or so packs thinking that would do them for awhile, but they all sold within the first 4 days they came in. Good to see. Hope they ordered more or I'll have to have a talk with them:)

Even though the PS2 is getting all the covers on aussie mags, Xbox is outselling them leading into christmas. Gamecube isn't even in the running I've been told. They are flogging Mario across all Nintendo platforms in an attempt to combat Halo and the Xbox pack. But everyone who is getting the pack is getting it for Halo more than the other games, which is strange in Australia. We love our car games, they are the traditional big-sellers out here.

But who's complaining when Halo keeps selling? Not me...

Apparently they may alter the pack to include Splinter Cell with Halo and an as yet unnamed racing game. Interesting.

-Hedge, ever vigilant.
