I'm afraid that they are.

The faces that you're seeing are just a coincidental combination of texture, UV mapping, and the underlying detail maps. It's probably the symmetry (caused by the mirror seam) which is forming the faces... the same thing happens when you look at ink blots and see all sorts of crazy things.

The "buffalo" is pretty funny, but also just a coincidence.
