In Response To: Re: Yup, Steam version needed (Captain Spark)

: There is a Halo modding tool called Assembly, and it works with the Windows
: Store version of MCC. I haven't gotten around to using Assembly yet. 343
: Industries released two modding tools for MCC that were the two tools that
: Bungie made for The Custom Edition of Halo CE that 343 modified to work,
: but I'm not sure which Halo games these tools will work with.

: I created a Steam account just to download the official modding tools offered
: by 343 Industries, but the page on Steam were the tools are located
: doesn't show the download link to the tools. Even if I could obtain the
: Official modding tools, which I can't find, I don't know if they would
: work on the Windows Store version of MCC. It's very frustrating. I've
: asked around the Halo community about the modding tools, but everyone
: says....."Just use Steam". I don't want to install Steam on my
: gaming system mainly because I already have enough on-line shit to
: maintain and I don't want to add another service to deal with.

Ach, I hear you. If I had a native Windows computer I would have dug in and figured this out, but I just run a select few games through a VM on my Mac and trying to do wonky file system stuff that way is an added headache I don't bother with. It's a shame that Steam has such a de facto monopoly on the mod scene.
