In Response To: unreal 5 tech demo (scarab)

I found some videos from a game developer that explain why this new engine is such a big deal; it's not just, "lots of polys".

The new engine takes a LOT of drudge work out of game development so, hopefully, artists can concentrate on doing good art and crafting the experience instead of concentrating on doing grunt work that the computer should do for them.

The first video is a "reaction" video where he watches the demo (NOT for the first time) and he says what the engine means to a developer and why the engine will be a big deal for developers. (Remember the problems that Bungie had/have with their Destiny engine and how hard it was/is to make level changes.) I like his videos because they are a glimpse into someone else's life, the problems they face, how they solve them, and the fun they get out of their jobs. I think this stuff is probably interesting for game players.

The second video is commentary on a Sony presentation about Sony's preparation for the PS5: what they were thinking, their approach to this iteration of console development: you can boil it down to, "listen to developers" :-)

I haven't watched the second video to the end but I think it will help to hear a developer comment on Sony's strategy.

I got too excited to wait until the end of the second video before posting this. I thought I'd share and let you guys watch these for yourselves.
