I sort of assume the original idea was to turn the Master Chief Collection into the legacy Halo spot. Obviously the game being in need of some TLC scuttled those plans.

Would be great to have all the Halo experiences on one console, but good news is with the effort they're putting into MCC and Xbox's focus on backwards compatibility, we'll keep Halos 1–4 across gens going forward.
